Paintings in Progress
~The Online Studio~

Today I begin with the underpainting in single color. For this some Burnt Umber diluted with water should be great. Using a flat medium brush we block in the dark and light patches on the horses.
This helps to give a fair idea about where the shadow and light falls on the horses.

Having finished the horses we move on to the background and the splashes of water.
Initially I had thought of using only burnt umber for the entire underpainting but  I just changed my mind. I think painting the background with another colour will keep the horses separate from the background. So let's use diluted Raw Umber to do the water and background.

Raw umber already has a tint of green to it so the underpainting will merge nicely when we start the green background.

There goes. Our underpainting is complete.

As you can see I have not painted the upper  left side background .

If you see the original picture you can see a lot of dark and light and even lighter patches in the green background.  We will use a different technique for making these patches so there is no need to block them in the underpainting right now.
The Painting has just started and we already have an audience . :)

Next we will start with the green background.... until then..
Spread your Sunshine wherever you go .
Lots of Love.
