Hello Friends Welcome to My Online Studio

Besides the Monday ritual of "The 50 Paintings Project" where we take up one famous painting a week....today I also start the process of sharing my ongoing paintings with you step by step as I paint along in my online studio. 

To begin with let me share with you what I am doing currently. Have Started a new Painting today...

Canvas size is 48 " x 42 "  (4 ft x 3.5 ft). Its for a friend and they did some research on their own and sent me a few pictures of Running Horses.

 We finally settled on the one below because  of the beautiful combination of power, grace and movement that the horses depict in a single frame. 

The splashing water provides excitement and lends a vibrancy to the scene. Looking at the canvas size also this one seemed to be a good fit.

I have thought of using both Acrylic and Oil Paints as I usually do on larger sized paintings.. 

Having made the preliminary drawing I start with diluted Acrylic Burnt Umber to paint over my sketch and get it as  accurate as I can. 

Its worthwhile to spend a lot of time on getting the drawing as elaborate as possible.

Then I go over it with diluted mix of Acrylic Burnt umber and Ultramarine Blue.  This way when I start painting my drawing will not get lost .

And then block in the dark patches on the horses with Burnt Umber diluted.
