The 50 Paintings Project

Painting # 34

'It's Over '  by Richard Ramsey

This painting is by Richard Ramsey who is essentially an ace photographer.

Sharing this for two reasons

One , that this is a painting of a different kind created by Ramsey from a photograph . I believe it is Corel's painter Software Program that has been used to create it.

Just like a few of these below.
Interesting to see how he converts a photograph to a painting using software and even modifying the background to suit the mood.

Second reason for sharing this was
I just found it too
cute !!!

And the title "It's Over " :)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               What could essentially be over .... :)

So as I sign off for this week I am left wondering

"Will a Hug be good enough for this little one ...?"

The 50 Paintings Project

Painting  # 33

Roses by Gary Jenkins

Sharing with you a painting by Gary Jenkins , my favourite floral artist.

Gary and his wife Kathwren live in Arizona ,USA.

Gary has been named as one of the Best Floral Painters of America.

He is a remarkable teacher and if you want to learn how to paint flowers , he is the 'go to' person for that.
Because nobody teaches flowers as simply and better than Gary Jenkins !
In my own Gary inspired moments of creativity I have done a few eperiments myself.

Here they are :)

This last one is a Home Improvement Project done on a beautiful rainy day , which was today .
An old cupboard freshly painted with oil paints .

The fragrance of rainy mud mixed with turpentine ... Ah! Blissful .

The 50 Paintings Project

Painting # 32

'Water Lilies' by Claude Monet

This huge installation of 6 ft by 41 ft is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art NewYork. Not just lilies but even the reflection of clouds can also be seen in the water.

Water Lilies by Claude Monet , the father of Impressionism, is not one painting but a series of around 250 paintings of water lilies that he made.

And all these are scenes from his backyard garden.
He even constructed this Japanese bridge there and it has been the subject of 17 of  his paintings.

How did Monet end up painting so many  Water Lilies paintings?

Once when he was travelling through the village of GIVERNY in North France he was mesmerized by its beauty and as soon as he could afford it , he bought a house there.
Then he spent next 45 years landscaping and modifying his place and growing water lilies imported from Egypt and South America which became the subject of 250 of his paintings.

What was so beautiful about a small village? Look at these pictures

 and....
  look at those flowers...

and..oh..what a quaint street..wonder where it leads to...

So he bought a house....

...and painted in this studio ...

 and did gardening ....
....and thought and planned his paintings in this garden....

and finally died a peaceful man surrounded by family and friends in 1926 in this bed in his bedroom.

The 50 Paintings Project

Painting # 31

"Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh

This painting  by Vincent Van Gogh was done 128 years back and currently  hangs in the Metropolitan Museum at New York.

It is not a big frame - about 29 inches by 36 inches but very famous.

Almost everyone knows at least the name of this painting - "Oh! That's Starry Night " they will say...

There are 11 swirling stars in the painting and one bright yellow crescent shaped moon.

The stars take up so much attention of the viewer that  just a passing glance may cause you to miss the moonlit town in the middle.

There is a church and there is light in a few windows :)

The dark shape in front is a cypress tree.

This was a view from the asylum he was in after he admitted himself there ( having undergone depression and cutting off his ear in rage. )

Personally Van Gogh did not think much of this painting and described it as a failure referring to  the overly big stars.... If only somebody would have appreciated his painting while he was alive ...he may not have died such a depressed man.

But that's usually the case with people - They are a little late with their compliments !
I am like ...Why did'nt you say that ever before ?

Anyway ... so also Van Gogh got very little appreciation for his work and sold only one painting in his lifetime...

And ...look ...at... people..now !!!

I wish Van Gogh could see how much he was being appreciated . How his work is not just being appreciated but "Studied" and "Researched" upon!

How people were investigating and pondering over his each brush stroke !!

You will know a  Van Gogh Painting by these three things :
.
Thick laying of paint (IMPASTO Technique) ,
Simplified Forms
&
 Bold Contrasts!

See you next week...Till then I'll go and compliment a few people :)
