The 50 Paintings Project

Painting # 36

'Young Lady on a Parisian Terrace'
 by Konstantin Razumov

Konstantin Razumov was born in 1974 in Moscow. He is a Russian Contemporary painter .
These are my favorite paintings because they present a beautiful combination of Impressionism and Realism.....

The focus of the painting are the women whose beauty and elegance is portrayed with great realism and the surroundings are painted with impressionist brush strokes....which are soft and in many places blurred...

The focus of the painting has to be in sharper brushstrokes so it stands out ...and making the  surroundings blurred helps to make the central piece stand out more as the viewer's eye is always first drawn to sharper and clearer object.

If everything is painted in sharp brushstroke then its like adding too much salt to the food :)

Do check out the smoothness of the skin and the vibrant color scheme.

In general the overall appeal of his paintings is Cheerful and Pleasant - A thing of Beauty.

And that is essential in a painting which someone might hang in their living room and have to look at  day in and day out for as long as it sits there.

So make sure when you buy a painting it is solely for its beauty and meaning for you...because a thing of beauty is a joy forever and the one which means something to your personality  will never loose its charm over time.

And yet, if you can't decide don't worry -  The painting that's meant for you will find its way to you someday...Each painting has its own consciousness , its own vibrations.

The 50 Paintings Project

Painting # 35

"Whistler's Mother" by James Whistler

Whistler painted his mother Anna Whistler almost 146 year back.

It is almost 56 inches by 64 inches and amongst the most famous paintings of America, having featured in various movies like Mr.Bean, Naked Gun, The Simpsons and at least 5 more movies and works of fiction.

Currently placed in the Paris Museum "Musee d'Orsay' It is described as the Victorian Mona Lisa.

So naturally if nothing else, people certainly know the name of the painting ...something like Van Gogh's Starry Nights :)

Whistlers mother in law was kind of jealous that he did not paint her....

And what about Whistler's Father ?

This image has been used by America as an icon for motherhood, family values and  a stamp was issued  in 1934.
17 years later Vincent Van Gogh made a portrait of his mother and strange coincidence his mother's name was also                                                                                                                                             'Anna' .
