'The 50 Paintings ' Project

Painting # 15

Realistic painting by Rob Hefferan

48 year old Rob Hefferan is an exceptionally talented figurative artist based in Lancashire England.

His oil Paintings are so realistic that one has to give it a closer second look to understand that its not a photograph but an actual painting.

Here are a few more of his amazing works.

The pattern of the chair's upholstery gives a velvety look.

The white satin effect of the dress is created using shades of blues and greys and pinks and highlights of white.

Check out the details on the China Vases behind and the intricate woodwork of the table..all done with oil paints and brush

The effect of sunlight filtering through the windows is amazingly created especially through the folds of the ballerina's dress.

Choosing the right color mixes is as important as the technique of painting.
If the technique is correct but the colors chosen for say the sunlit and shadow part of the floor are wrong  it will just not produce this effect.

Like they say the sunlight should have the right amount of warmth in it and the shadow must have the right amount of coolness in it .
Knowing which are our cool colors and which are our warm colors helps a lot here.

BTW somebody asked.....The name of this insanely cute dog is WATSON :)

See you again next week with a new painting !

Love.

The '50 Paintings " Project

Painting #  14

'Soulmates' by Lee Bogle

I came across this beautiful painting as I was just browsing the net... showing a Native American man and a woman.  Made in mixed media with Pastels. The use of Air Brush lends it the softness around the edges.

The  random colors in the background, around the couple ,  seem to be out-of-focus angels and demons symbolizing the good and bad  experiences of Life which influence every relationship day after day.

It shows how the two soulmates take strength from each other ,  not allowing the pressures of life to influence them.

A Soulmate  is a person with whom one has a strong affinity , shared values & tastes and maybe  a romantic bond...

....one with whom you are unexplainably drawn to be in a relationship

.... a person who comes into your life so that you can grow & expand into the best version of yourself.

.... When we become open to receiving them in our life they automatically make their way to us.

See you next Monday...  :)

'The 50 Paintings ' Project

Painting # 13

Church

This painting was painted by a struggling artist somewhere in the beginning of the 20th century

He lived a bohemian life painting scenes of  Vienna and selling them as postcards in Vienna pubs to make a living.

Twice he applied to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna
But was rejected both times.

If only they had given him admission ....we would have
Saved 5.5 million Jews...

Saved another 6 million innocent people...

Not had to go through World War 2...

...would have known Adolf Hitler as a painter of beautiful landscapes...

and the world would have painted a prettier picture!

See you with Painting # 14 next week .....

'The 50 Paintings ' Project

Painting # 12

Damyanti (originally untitled by Raja Ravi Verma

 Oil on canvas . Size about ... 20"x 28 "

Raja Ravi Verma painted this almost 117 years back.

And last month this Painting was sold for Rs.11.9 crores in New York!

He has portrayed Damyanti , princess of Vidharbha who was the wife of King Nala.
(Reminds me of that Amar Chitra"Nala Damyanti" we used to read )

This painting was inspired from this scene from the theater show "A Feast of Roses"

Raja Ravi Verma was the first to portray Indian Gods as mythical characters in earthly surroundings. How the Goddess Laxmi looks in pictures to us is how Raja Ravi Verma painted her.

See you soon with Painting #  13 ....:)
