"The 50 Paintings" Project
Painting # 21
Oil on Canvas painted by a French Painter Pierre Auguste Cot (whose name can be easily confused with Pierre Auguste Renoir) almost 137 years back.
At 92 "x 62 " it is a pretty big frame which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York.
Right next to it is Cot's another work called "The Spring" ("Le Printemps") which was done 10 years before The Storm.

Painting # 21
The Storm by Pierre Auguste Cot
La Tempête
Oil on Canvas painted by a French Painter Pierre Auguste Cot (whose name can be easily confused with Pierre Auguste Renoir) almost 137 years back.

Right next to it is Cot's another work called "The Spring" ("Le Printemps") which was done 10 years before The Storm.

"The Storm" and "The Spring" displayed at the Met New York, side by side .
The success of "The Spring" which he painted for his patron John Wolfe, motivated him to paint "The Storm" for John's cousin Catharine Wolfe.

.......And so John gave in to his sister and that's how you have two paintings hanging together in the New York Museum :)
Love :) Until next week ...
